Grace to you and peace!

Welcome to the website of the parish family of St. Matthew!  It is good to have you visit.  St. Matthew’s church serves the communities of Tyrone, Fairburn, Palmetto, Union City and surrounding area. We seek to serve the Lord in our neighbor by sowing the seed of his word, shining the light of his love and living out the Gospel in word and deed.

We hope you find this website informative and helpful. Join us in prayer.  Participate in our ministries.  Come and live out the Christian life with us!  If there are ways that we may walk with you on this journey of faith, please let us know.  May the Lord bless you abundantly!

Another very successful summer helping children and families has come and gone.  This summer's program lasted 10 weeks.  We, along with Holy Trinity and St. Gabriel, delivered a grand total of 11,899 lunches with 15,815 sandwiches.  This is 700 more lunches than last summer but we had more teen bags this year so our sandwich count is much higher. In addition, we added 2 neighborhoods in Palmetto, reaching many more families (see photos).  This could not have been possible without the hard work and enthusiasm of over 175 different volunteers from St. Matthew!!!  So, if you helped in any way (setting up, making sandwiches, assembling lunches, cleaning up, driving or delivering, baking, donating supplies/food/money/items for El Mercado, buying bread, donating milk, etc.), THANK YOU and THANK YOU again!  A special thank you to Helen Martin, Ed and Janet Craig, Ken McCarrey, Julie Digby, James Jordan, Diana Gaskins, Cindy Boron, Sharyn Bergin and the Roberts family who went above and beyond helping practically every week this summer!!!  And thank you to Judy Godwin who helped coordinate and plan! I'm in awe of the generosity of this parish and the outpouring of love and prayers that this ministry has received this year.  A nice article was written in the Aug 7th issue of the Georgia Bulletin about our program. Check it out!  Our goal for next summer is to grow even more so we can reach more children in our community.  If you are interested in helping to coordinate this important and rewarding ministry next summer, please consider signing up at the Ministry Fair this fall.  If you have any questions, please contact Lisa at or 678-266-8373.

A HUGE Thank You as well to Deacon Gayle and Sally, their two grandsons and Ken McCarrey for helping to distribute the supplies.  Also, another round of kudos to the Community Garden for donating peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes and okra as well.
